World Supersport Release

Canadian Chris Peris aiming high in Supersport

Interest in the Supersport championship is growing all over the world. One of the discipline's most interesting conquests is 19 year old Chris Peris, who joined the ranks of Team Moto 1 Yamaha Bikersdays this season to race alongside 2005 Superstock 1000 champion Didier Van Keymeulen. Peris is from the famous winter sports locality of Calgary, where the Winter Olympics were hosted. He is the first Canadian to race in the World Supersport Championship and aims to become one of its top riders. Peris certainly has what it takes. He finished tenth in the 2004 Ama SS championship and last year came fifth in the Daytona 200, the first of the Yamahas to cross the line.
Though this is Peris' first full season in SS his first experience actually dates back to the 2005 Misano race in which he finished 25th. Peris has certainly not had it easy in this season's first two races. He had never previously raced at Losail or Phillip Island, two highly technical and challenging circuits, and did well to finish on both occasions. The experience he gained in the process will serve him in good stead for the rest of his SS apprenticeship season.
